InfantSEE® Program: Ensuring Healthy Eyesight From the Start

Why Early Infant Eye Care Matters

A baby’s eyes develop quickly during the first year of life. Even when everything seems normal, some vision problems can be difficult for parents to spot without a professional exam. Early evaluation helps identify concerns that could affect visual development, eye alignment, and overall comfort as your child grows.

What InfantSEE® Is

InfantSEE® is a public health program created to help make infant eye and vision care part of early wellness care. Through this program, infants between 6 and 12 months old can receive a comprehensive infant eye assessment. This gives families an opportunity to check early visual development during an important stage of growth.

Why The First Year Is So Important

The first year is an ideal time to evaluate how your baby’s eyes are developing. Some issues, such as focusing difficulties, eye teaming concerns, or early signs of eye health problems, may not be obvious at home. A timely infant eye exam can provide peace of mind and support healthy visual milestones from the start.

What We Look For During An Infant Eye Assessment

During an infant eye exam, we evaluate more than whether your baby can see clearly. We look at how the eyes move, how they work together, and whether the eyes are developing as expected.

  • Eye alignment and tracking
  • Focusing ability
  • Early eye health concerns
  • Signs of prescription needs
  • Overall visual development

Who Should Schedule An InfantSEE® Exam

Every baby can benefit from an early eye assessment, but some infants may be especially good candidates for an exam. Babies with a family history of eye conditions, premature birth, or developmental concerns may need closer attention. Even without known risk factors, an InfantSEE® exam can help confirm that your child’s visual development is on the right path.
